ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ

Evangelos (Evan) C. Hassiotis

Evan was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Traveling became an integral and very important part of his life very early when, at the age of twelve, he went to Middle School at the Theresianische Akademie in Vienna, Austria. He continued his formal education successively in Athens, Greece and at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona where he received two degrees under a Fulbright scholarship (B.Sci. in Ag.Econ; B.A. in Econ and Classics); and an MBA in International Finance and Management at the prestigious Thunderbird School of International Management, now part of the Arizona State University.

His professional career in International banking/finance and consulting started immediately thereafter in a succession of increasing responsibility positions all over the world with global corporate giants such Citibank, Booz·Allen and Hamilton, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, as CEO of Petzetakis Group of Companies, a Greek Multinational manufacturer of plastics for variety of applications, and finally as Founder/Owner of Omega Management Consultants engaged primarily in S.E.Asia with offices in Singapore and Jakarta, where he honed his professional and entrepreneurial skills.

The tragic death of his wife in November of 1994 was the impetus to retire from his professional responsibilities and activities two years later to raise as a single parent his three children; Christopher (14) and Alexandra (12), both born in Milan, Italy and Nicholas (10) born in Jeddah, KSA.

He has lived in 11 countries, visited professionally and as a tourist approximately 80, and in the process learned fluently seven languages plus Siourhtka, a “local speak” spoken in Kozani, a small town in Greek Western Macedonia where he spend his very happy childhood until the age of twelve when he started his international education at the Theresianum as mentioned in the beginning above.

He used to apportion his time among his residencies in Atlanta, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC, in the USA; Thessaloniki and Athens in Greece, as well as in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysa. However, in the last few years he spends 6 months of the year (May-October) in Greece and the rest (November-April) in Atlanta, GA. This also gives him the opportunity to spend quality time with his children and five grandchildren!

His hobbies were skiing (Water and Snow), tennis, off-roading and traveling; he now primarily pursues off-roading with his Jeep throughout the States and his Jeep in Greece all over the country and the islands, always with the company of his life-companion, Katerina.

He continues to read his favorite Greek poet, Konstantinos Kavafis, and still follows the example of his beloved hero of the Greek Mythology, Odysseus, of adventures and traveling.
